Andrew Z. Fire, the Nobel Prize winner in medicine and Prof. at Stanford University, paid a visit to Daejin High School(Principal Lee Tae-Yeol) on May 30 and gave a special lecture to the gifted students in advanced science class. The invitation was made by Biological Science Dept. of Hanyang University as a part of Bio Youth Camp.

A research on double stranded RNA's interference effect in formation of new genes took him years to study and finally to receive a reward. Prof. Fire gave hopes to the students insisting that RNA interference should be applied to guard from viral genes such as cancer cells.

Daejin High School was approved of the intensive science school by Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. And then the school signed a bilateral MOU with the natural science college of Hanyang University in order to provide advanced education for the gifted in Feb. 2010.
