- 2024 International Conference on “Daesoon Thought and the Religions of East Asia” Held by the Daesoon Academy of Science

On June 25, the Daesoon Academy of Science (President: Bae Gyu-han) hosted, with support from the Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex of Daesoon Jinrihoe, the “2024 Daesoon Thought and the Religions of East Asia (‘JDTREA’)” International Conference. With participation from over 100 scholars across 15 countries and moderation by world-renowned academics such as Eileen Barker, Bernadette Rigal-Cellard, and Massimo Introvigne, the conference was held under the theme “New Developments in Daesoon Thought & the Religions of East Asia.”
From 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the conference featured 12 sessions in which 30 papers were presented, sharing research outcomes that encompassed a wide range of topics and perspectives on Daesoon Thought and the religious traditions of East Asia.
Massimo Introvigne, Director of the Center for Studies on New Religions, who served as moderator, highlighted the significance of the event by stating, “The many participants testify that Daesoon Thought is already well known in the international academic community.” In her closing remarks, Professor Carole Cusack of the University of Sydney (Editor-in-Chief of ‘JDTREA’) said, “I was deeply impressed by the high level of scholarly achievement, and I believe this conference will further advance the journal.”
