The conference was held under the theme “Mutual Influences between Religious Scriptures and Civilization.” Approximately 250 scholars from more than 60 universities and research institutions across Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, and other countries participated. A total of over 100 papers were presented across 28 sessions, featuring in-depth and wide-ranging discussions on East Asian religious culture. Topics included Daesoon Jinrihoe and other new religious movements in East Asia, as well as Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and various forms of folk religion.
Professor Li Hong-goon of Yanbian University, Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese-language international academic journal Studies of East Asian Religious Culture, published by the Daesoon Academy of Sciences, along with other participating scholars, expressed their deep appreciation for the academy’s role as an international academic institution in this field. They particularly commended its efforts to promote scholarly exchange between emerging and senior scholars and to present new paradigms for the study of East Asian religious culture.
