- 2018 the Second World Sangsaeng Forum
In October 20-21, the second World Sangsaeng Forum was held at the central library of Daejin University. It was hosted by Daesoon Academy of Sciences of Daejin University and supported by Daesoon Jinrihoe Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex. On the theme “Towards an Earthly Paradise: The Future of Humanity in Religions and Daesoon Thought”, about 200 scholars and professionals of religions from 15 countries participated and spoke about the topic. On these days, there were various and in-depth discussions on earthly paradise including a presentation on Haewon Sangsaeng and Earthly Paradise of Daesoon thought, various views of earthly paradise in different religions, and comparison between Daesoon thought and other religions. One of participants said “It is amazing to see how many different religions and religious thoughts can interact, mutually understand, and discuss academically under the common theme.” Also, another participants said “I would like to thank and deliver my respect to Daesoon Jinrihoe and Daesoon Academy of Sciences for arranging such wonderful international conference.” After the conference, all participants visited Daesoon Jinrihoe Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex , paid respect at Yeongdae, and enjoyed banquet prepared by the temple. In his welcoming address, President Yoon Eun-do said “I expect this World Sangsaeng Forum will go beyond a field of academic exploration and develop into that of communication and friendship for many scholars from overseas.”

- Holding Gosa Rite to Resume Constructing Gosung Jaeseang Hospital
On September 30, a gosa* was carried out to announce the resumption of the construction of Go-seong Jaeseang Hospital in Gangwon Province, at 9:30 am. This gosa was attended by more than 1,000 devotees from the Goseong Jaeseang Hospital (located in Bongpori, Tosung-myoen, Korea). The groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 12, 2000, and the construction resumed in 13 years after the exterior of the main building was completed in September 2005. The size of the hospital is 13,600 pyeong, including 3 underground floors and 11 floors above the ground. The hospital will be equipped with 22 hospital beds, 9 medical clinics, and 500 inpatient beds. When the large-scale general hospital is completed, medical services in areas such as Gangwon-do, Sokcho, Goseong, and Yangyang are expected to improve even further. *Gosa: shamanistic ritual in which food is offered to the spirits in order to avoid misfortune and bring good luck.

- Historical and Cultural Review of Jeungsan Thought Conference
On October 5, 2018 at Nokdu Hall of Jeongeup Youth Center, a conference titled “Historical and Cultural Review of Jeungsan Thought” was held in relation to the maintenance plan of the birth place of Sangje in Jeongeup. It was hosted by Daejin University and Daesoon Academy of Sciences and supported by the Province People’s News of Jeollabukdo, Jeonbuk History and Culture Institute, and Jeongeup Culture Center. The opening ceremony was began with the speeches of the president Bae Gyuhan of Daesoon Academy of Sciences, Lee Myeon-jae, the dean of Daejin University, and Yu Jin-seop, the mayor of Jeongeup City. Mayor Yoo Jinseop said in his speech, "Jeoupeup has excellent historical and cultural values, so it takes a lot of experts and scholars to make this known to the world," and added, "The ideas left by the holy master Gang Il-soon during the late Joseon dynasty are enough to lead the era beyond religious prejudice." Then he promised good results with active support for the restoration project. The next lecture, titled "Social change in the 19th century and the rise of new religion," was announced by Na Jong-woo, honorary professor at Wonkwang University. Then, it was followed by presentations by Lee Kyung-won, dean of Daesoon Theology of Daejin University, Park In-kyu, a researcher at Daesoon Academy of Sciences, and Choi Seung-hee, professor of Woo Seok-University. The comments were offered by professor Kim Yong-hwan of Chungbuk University, professor Park Kwang-soo of Wonkwang University and professor Baek Seung-ki of Woo Seok University.

- 2018 Emergency Rescue Comprehensive Drill Held at Yeoju HQ
On October 18, at 2 PM., a total of 240 people from 21 fire departments of Yeoju, Yeoju City Hall, Yeoju Police Station, Korea Electric Safety Corporation, two Infantry divisions of the 3901th Army Unit, Amateur Radio Union, and Seroun hospital participated in the drill at Yeoju headquarters to prepare for any occasion of large fire. It is the first time that a number of organizations participated in the drill although they have conducted their own fire drills in the past. The drill, which was conducted by five units and 10 sub units set according to their own roles to simulate the multiple casualties caused by large fires and the collapse of buildings, is aimed at minimizing the damage of large fire, as it is designed to promptly respond to the fire, notification of fire, evacuation, life saving, and restoration. "The Emergency Response System of Yeoju is well equipped with a cooperative system with nearby regions such as Icheon, Anyang, Suwon and Yangpyeong," said Kim Chang-ki, the second division chief of the field response team, who add “we will do our best to protect the lives and property of the residents by strengthening the foundation by providing a quick response to a major disaster through the general training accompanied by civil officers.”

- Visit to Taiwan Weixin Shengjiao for CESNUR Conference and the Signing Ceremony of the Association of East Asian New Religions
In June 18-19, 2018, Daesoon Jinrihoe delegation visited Taiwan to participate in the unveiling ceremony for the golden statue of Wang Chang Lao Zu(Guiguzi, the object of worship in Weixin Shengjao), and to attend the 2018 CESNUR conference. In the unveiling ceremony of Wang Chan Lao Zu, president Yoon Eun Do made a congratulatory address before 5,000 people including the former vice president and other financial and political leaders of Taiwan.The event was followed by the signing ceremony for MOU of the Association of East Asian New Religions. The three religious movements, Daesoon Jinrihoe, Weixin Shengjao, and Caodai, agreed to form the first association of the East Asian religions. President Yoon Eun Do said in his address, “With this meaningful agreement of three different religions of East Asia, I hope that we collaborate one another and go forward until the day comes when the whole world become one family and enjoy eternal peace and harmony.” A lot of scholars of religious studies from many countries expressed their wishes that this agreement will be a catalyst for expanding more active research and communication for religious studies.
