The 13th Daesoon Literary Arts Contest Award Ceremony Was Held
The 13th Daesoon Literary Arts Contest award ceremony was held on October 9th. The award ceremony, which was broadcast online on the official YouTube channel of the religious order, Daesoon Jinrihoe, started with a congratulatory speech by the Deputy Director of the Religious Research & Edification Department, Lee Jaeho. Next there was a report on the progress of the contest, then an announcement of the winners, and lastly, the judges provided their appraisals and comments. The winners received certificates and plaques in real time by participating in the awards ceremony through the video conferencing program, Zoom. This year’s Daesoon Literary Arts Contest reviewed a total of 85 submitted works: 52 prose submissions and 33 verse submissions.

World Boxing Champion Choi Hyun-mi visits Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex
On September 30th, Korea's only sitting world boxing champion, Choi Hyun-mi, visited Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex along with Daejin University's President Leem Youngmoon. Choi, sponsored by Daejin University, won her 9th title defense of the WBA Super Featherweight World Title at Dongducheon National Sports Center on the 18th. Choi explained the reason for her visit, saying, “I came to express my gratitude to those who supported me.” After a brief meeting, she delivered a handwritten autograph on a gold colored boxing glove. Choi Hyun-mi is the one of the greatest female professional boxing champions of all time given her undefeated record of 18 wins and 1 draw.

The 2021 Autumn Conference of DAOS Was Held Online
On September 25th, Daesoon Academy of Sciences (DAOS) held their autumn academic conference online. During this conference, eight papers were presented and well-recognized scholars offered comments to the presenters. Presentations papers included 「The Use of the Concept of Grievance-resolution and Its Religious Transformation」, 「Research on the Feng Shui Formation, Sameyongdang (Four Luminous Courts), as Recorded in The Canonical Scripture」, and 「A Transcendental Pragmatic Interpretation of Human Nobility in Daesoon Thought」. Various opinions were voiced by panelists who also engaged in in-depth discussions with the presenters. Chairman of the Daesoon Academy of Sciences, Bae Kyuhan, expressed his gratitude to all the scholars who participated, remarking, “This conference was an opportunity to confirm that many researchers are interested in Daesoon Thought, and they also demonstrated that their research capabilities are deepening.”

Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex Delivered Rice to Help Neighbors in Gangcheon-myeon
On September 6th, Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex delivered 100 20kg-bags of white rice (a value of 8 million won) to the Gangcheon-myeon Community Center to celebrate Chuseok, Mid-Autumn Festival. The white rice will be transferred to the elderly living alone and low-income households throughout the district. Kim Ju-nam, head of Gangcheon-myeon, said, “I am grateful for the sincerity of Daesoon Jinrihoe, whose deliveries warm so many hearts each holiday season.”

The New Building of Bundang Jesaeng Hospital Is Set to be Completed by the End of Next Year
Daejin Medical Foundation held a prayer for safety for the new building which began its construction on September 14th. The new building of Bundang Jesaeng Hospital is a 4-story building with a construction area of 5,302 m2. The first floor will be used as a parking lot, the second floor as an endoscopy center, the third floor as a general examination center, and the fourth floor as a nursing care service ward. The target for completion of the new building has been set for December of 2022.
