  • Professor Kim Gwang-hyeon of Bundang Jesaeng Hospital Received an Achievement Award at the 6th Asian Society of Head & Neck Oncology
    On March 27, 2019, Kim Gwang-hyeon, professor of otolaryngology at Bundang Jesaeng hospital received an achievement award at the 6th Asian Society of Head and Neck Oncology held at Jamsill Lotte World Hotel for the highly valued accolades he has earned by contributing to the field of head and neck oncology. As a pioneer of head and neck cancer treatment in Korea, Professor Kim introduced the first laser therapy for head and neck cancer, and organized an international conference on head and neck oncology starting back in 2010. This conference was attended by specialists from 65 countries. In 2019, the conference drew a lot of interest from overseas as 637 people from 27 countries registered. The conference received submissions of 290 articles (92 domestically in Korea and 198 from overseas) from scholars spanning 20 different countries. This the highest level of participation that has ever been recorded for a conference of this nature.

  • 2019 Daejin University Entrance Ceremony
    At 11:00 a.m. on February 26, the 2019 Daejin University Entrance Ceremony was held in the indoor gymnasium. On this day, 1,920 people in total including Yun Eundo, the chair of Daejin University Educational Foundation, Lee Myeon-jae, the dean of Daejin University, and other related people including executive members of the educational foundation, school faculty, external personnel, and parents attended the ceremony to welcome new students. The students included 15 students from the College of Daesoon Theology, 410 from the College of Liberal Arts, 320 from the College of Global Trade and Industry, 340 from the College of Public Service, 360 from the College of Science and Technology, and 475 from the College of Human IT Engineering. The entrance ceremony began with the opening address and continued with events such as a report on matters concerning education, the declaration of entrance admissions, an oath by the representative of the freshmen, and a welcoming address. Lee Myeonjae, the dean of Daejin University, said in his welcoming address “Our university is fully prepared to enable students to become talented people who can adapt themselves to the fast-changing world and promote the betterment of others.” He added “Do not limit yourselves only to one field or major in your studies, but approach various fields with creative and integrated ways of thinking to go beyond Korea and apply your talents throughout the world in your work. In response, the representative of freshmen, Im Jun-hyeong, said in his oath that they will take upon themselves the foundational spirit of Daejin University: Sincerity, Respectfulness, and Faithfulness. He vowed that they would become the proud Daejinians and contribute to the prosperity of the nation and people of Korea.

  • Bundang Jesaeng Hospital Received the “Seongnam-si Mayor Award” for Its Medical Volunteering Activities in the City
    On February 26, 2019, Bundang Jesaeng Hospital (President Che Byeong-guk) received the Seongnam-si Mayor Award for its committed work and medical visitation services in the city. Ever since the hospital opened in 1998, it has been offering medical services for low income senior citizens by providing a house-to-house visitation service and performing medical treatments and physical therapy in cooperation with Bundang-gu Community Health Center. Also, upon celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, the hospital donated 200 sets of first-aid medical supplies for low income elders to the local government of Seongnam-si. Che Byeong-guk, the president of Bundang Jesaeng Hospital, delivered his message by saying “In order to meet the purpose of our foundation, we will continue to provide volunteer medical visitation services and support the city’s low income senior citizens, children, and youth.”

  • Daljip Burning Ceremony was Held to Celebrate the First Full Moon Day of the Gihae Year
    On January 15 (lunar calendar), Daljip Burning Ceremony was held to celebrate the First Full Moon day of the 2019 at Bambol village which is located next to the sport stadium of Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex. Along with the burning ceremony, more than 1,000 participants consisting of local citizens and Daesoon Jinrihoe members enjoyed numerous folk games and performances such as Kite flying, Jegi, Yut, and steamed rice pounding. In the food court, people could enjoy delicious foods such as Teokboggi, fish cakes, and Injeolmi rice cakes. In this event, people prayed and watched various performances such as Gilnori, Pangut, and Jisinbalgi which were performed by Daesoon Jinrihoe’s Pulmul.

  • Jisinbalgi (the treading of the earth gods) Event Held in Daesoon Jinrihoe Welfare Foundation
    On February 18, 2019, Daejin International Volunteers Association’s Pulmul Team performed a Jisinbalgi event at Daesoon Jinrihoe Welfare Foundation. It was held to celebrate the fifteenth day of the new year and to wish for wellbeing and a good harvest. They visited each location in the facility starting from the first floor of the B-Wing building, and they went on to perform in the combined offices, corporate offices, patients units, and daycare center. They received heartfelt welcome from the senior citizens in all buildings. The Jisinbalgi performance at the welfare foundation ended with a grand finale at Daejin Youth Center. Youth Center.
