- Daesoon Academy of Sciences Held an Academic Conference Commemorating Jeongeup City's Designation of Kang Jeungsan's Birthplace as a Local Cultural Heritage Site
An academic conference commemorating Jeongeup city's designation of Kang Jeungsan's birthplace as a local cultural heritage site was held on December 17th, 2021 under the theme: 'A Reappraisal of the Significance of the Birth of Holy Master Kang Jeungsan and the Local Culture of Jeongeup.' 33 domestic and foreign scholars attended the forum which was praised as a great success. Hosted by Daesoon Academy of Sciences (DAOS) at Daejin University and sponsored by Daesoon Jinrihoe's Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex, this conference was conducted as a real-time video conference which connected presenters and participants from various countries around the world. Opening remarks were delivered by Chairman of DAOS, Bae Kyuhan, and this was followed by congratulatory remarks from Mayor of Jeongeup, Ryu Jinseop, President of the City Assembly of Jeongeup, Jo Sangjung, Professor Emeritus at the London School of Economics, Eileen Barker, and Professor at Western Washington University, Holly Folk. Professor Emeritus Eileen Barker said, "The designation of the birthplace of Holy Master Kang Jeungsan as a cultural heritage site also signifies the birth of a new religion which will bring 'mutual benefit' to the world. This is worthy of a commemoration by the citizens of the world." Professor Holly Folk added, "The volunteer activities of Daesoon Jinrihoe are virtually unrivaled in the world, and this will likely allow them to win widespread international recognition." Lastly, Director of the Center for Studies on New Religions, Massimo Introvigne, provided a keynote lecture on The Meaning of the Birth of Jeungsan and the Emergence of a New Axial Age. 33 scholars and 100 other prominent individuals from academic or other backgrounds participated in this conference. There were a total of 17 presentations and discussion was included as well. In his closing remarks, Chairman Bae said, “This academic conference marks an opportunity, not only to re-examine the spiritual and cultural heritage that Holy Master Kang Jeungsan has left for humankind, but also to continue the academic inquiry into the Korean thought and new religious thought that was conceived in Jeongeup and Jeonbuk regions. We hope that interest and discussion on these subjects will continue to expand in the future.”

- Daejin University Donated COVID-19 Self-diagnosis Kits to the Pocheon and Dongducheon Branches of the Disabled People's Association
Daejin University distributed 1,000 self-diagnosis kits to the Pocheon and Dongducheon branches of the Disabled People's Association on January 6th. The site where the donations took place was the guest room on the 2nd floor of Daejin University’s main building. The kits will be used towards the prevention of additional COVID-19 infection in nearby areas through preemptive testing for early detection. President Leem Youngmoon said, “As a university that represents the region, I hope that these kits can be used to quickly detect whether local residents are infected with the virus. This will enable us all to cope better with COVID-19 in the midst of the pandemic.”

- Bundang Jesaeng Hospital Held a ‘Warm-hearted Kimchi Sharing Winter Kimchi-Storing Event’
Bundang Jesaeng Hospital visited Bundang-gu Office on November 30th and donated 200 boxes of freshly made kimchi for the vulnerable in the local community. The freshly made kimchi was prepared with funds donated by hospital staff, and at 10:00 AM this event delivered the kimchi to social welfare facilities and community centers in Bundang-gu. Koh Hye-gyeong, Chief Administrator of Bundang-gu, said, “I would like to thank you all for donating this freshly made kimchi to nourish the underprivileged even in the midst of the difficulty that hospitals are experiencing due to COVID-19.”

- Daesoon Jinrihoe Welfare Foundation held a meeting with Mayor Lee Hang-jin of Yeoju
On November 22nd, Daesoon Jinrihoe Welfare Foundation held a meeting with Mayor Lee Hang-jin on the 2nd floor of the Daejin Welfare Center for Seniors during his visit to the social welfare institution. All interactions that day complied with relevant quarantine rules. At this meeting, there was a question and answer session that covered current social welfare policy issues in Yeoju and introduced ways to improve the treatment of workers. Mayor Lee Hang-jin said, “I would like to express words of consolation and thanks to all the employees of Daesoon Jinrihoe Welfare Foundation who are doing their best to prevent COVID-19 and care for the elderly. They are truly at the forefront of the social welfare response to COVID-19.”

- Daejin University’s ‘Briquettes of Love Drop-off Deliveries’
Daejin University held an event called, 'Briquettes of Love Drop-off Deliveries’ for the underprivileged in Pocheon City on November 24th. This event, wherein 23 Daejin University faculty and staff members participated, was recommended by the Pocheon City Comprehensive Support Center. The volunteers delivered a total of 3,000 briquettes, 600 per household, to 5 households in Idong-myeon, Pocheon. Director Kim Gi-deok of the Office of Administrative Support said, “I am grateful to the faculty and staff of Daejin University who participate in volunteer work for the local community and the underprivileged.”
